Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 16
Bright red-ruby. Pure, expressive aromas and flavors of black cherry and menthol lifted by a topnote of spearmint. Densely packed, seamless and refined on the palate, with firm underlying acidity giving the wine a very primary quality. One senses that this very promising Echézeaux will require several years in the bottle to display its inherent generosity. Méo's vines in Les Rouges du Bas were planted in 1950. He did a lot of replanting when he took over the domain in 1989, which he believes has added an extra layer of ripeness to the wine.
